Welcome to Moonrise Midwifery!

The majority of pregnancies fall under the category of low risk and therefore eligible for community birth, this includes being over age 35, first time parent, history of c-section (VBAC/HBAC), history of gestational diabetes, history of pre-eclampsia, and many more. If you are unsure if you are a good candidate for a community birth, come in for a free consultation!

Most families start by setting up a free consultation visit to see if we are a good match. The consult visit is a time to ask questions, connect on a person level, and determine if you are a good candidate for a home birth or birth center delivery. After that, your initial prenatal visit can be scheduled to establish care. At your first visit we get a full health history, conduct a basic physical exam, and get blood work.

Routine prenatal visits offer plenty of time to answer questions and concerns, discuss any upcoming screening tests, and to check in on the health of you and your baby.

When you go into labor, you will be attended by me and my team of midwifery students or birth assistants. We stay for a short period of time after delivery and then return for a home visit at one or two days postpartum.

Postpartum care continues through 6 weeks and includes basic newborn care and breastfeeding support. Most families decide to continue care with me and go on to do well-child visits starting at 2 months of age.

As a Naturopathic Midwife, I am trained to provide you with safe and effective midwifery care. My background as a licensed naturopathic doctor broadens the scope of care you will experience from pregnancy and birth to full family natural health care.

I blend evidence-based medicine with years of experience to offer you personalized care that can include screening and diagnostic testing as traditionally offered through conventional obstetric. Through getting to know you and your family, I provide you with the information needed to make informed choices.

I believe that families come in all forms and are affirming of all: single parents, queer families, lesbian families, poly families, heterosexual families, etc.

So you want to give birth in the hospital setting but want to minimize potential exposure to the SARS-COV-2 virus? Or maybe you just want to avoid going in too early. There is a solution! It is called Bridge care.

Bridge care can be initiated at any time in the weeks leading up to labor. We want to keep you out of the hospital until active labor starts. You will have access to Dr. Brandy via phone and she can come to your home periodically during labor to assess your progress and triage you.

These home visits are usually covered by insurance, including Apple Care/Medicaid! If you are interested in this type of care, schedule a Bridge care consult visits where you and Dr. Brandy can discuss your options.
