Bridge care during the COVID19 crisis
So you want to give birth in the hospital setting but want to minimize potential exposure to the SARS-COV-2 virus? There is a solution! It is called Bridge care.
Bridge care can be initiated at any time in the weeks leading up to labor. We want to keep you out of the hospital until active labor starts. You will have access to Dr. Brandy via phone and she can come to your home periodically during labor to assess your progress and triage you.
Additionally, since the majority of Seattle-area hospitals are discharging patients early, Dr. Brandy can provide routine postpartum parent and newborn care at your home for up to 6 weeks postpartum. Newborns typically get a newborn screen, congenital heart defect screening, and hearing screening around 24 hours old. Continued breastfeeding support is available as well as weight checks for baby and postpartum check-ins for the birthing parent. Dr. Brandy can assist you in developing a postpartum follow up plan that works for your newly-expanded family.
The majority of this is covered by insurance, including Apple Care/Medicaid!
If you are interested in this type of care, you can schedule a Bridge care zoom call. You can opt for labor care, postpartum care, or both!
